Newsletter - 19th June 2026

Dear Parents,

Language Week

This week we have celebrated ‘Italian Week’, led by Mrs D’Agostino and our Language Ambassadors. The children opened the week with an assembly full of interesting facts about Italy and have spent time working across the school, sharing their knowledge with other groups.

Today has been a highlight, with visitors from the Reggio Emilia Centre in Italy joining us. You may have recently seen this centre featured in the news during a visit by Princess Kate, known for its forward-thinking approach to Early Childhood Education.

Our visitors also spent time in the Reception Unit, where they observed strong practice influenced by previous Erasmus+ visits to Bologna, Modena and Reggio. These opportunities were organised by Emilia Quaranta, who is also with us today and will be coordinating future projects as new European funding becomes available next year, which is very exciting for Bridgewater moving forwards.

Year 3 Multi-Sports

Some Year 3 children enjoyed a multi-sport morning at NSG this week with six other schools. Well done to Hannah in Year 3 Ali who excelled and was awarded a sportsmanship certificate. They had a fun morning which included Bench Ball and Diamond Cricket amongst other sports.

Peace Garden

I enjoyed going with the School Council to the Peace Garden this week. I was so impressed with Tracey who volunteers and takes the session. She is teaching the children all the different plant names as well as how to grow and plant them. They provide all the resources and it is a joy to see all the children absorbed in making the garden a beautiful place.  Thanks also go to Neil who volunteers and helped the children dig the plants in around the sides of the garden.

The Saints

Thank you to Harvey from the Saints teaching rugby skills across the last two weeks.

Year 4 Park Visit

Year 4 were put into groups to visit Abington Park and had to find human and physical features related to their groups task. They had fun exploring and learning.

Year 1 Abington Park

Year 1 enjoyed a lovely morning exploring Abington Park this week as part of their local geography studies. Although the weather meant they had to head back a little earlier than planned, the children still made the most of their time outdoors.

We’re excited to share that, thanks to the support of Stanwick Lakes and Country Lion coaches, the Year 1 team have been able to rearrange another opportunity at short notice. The children will soon be heading out for a fantastic adventure at a local nature reserve, something we know they will thoroughly enjoy.

Summer Festival (Fair)

Our Summer Festival is taking place next weekend on 27th June, and the Friends team have been doing an amazing job organising what promises to be a fantastic event for our children and families.

They would be really grateful for a little extra help, whether that’s with preparations beforehand or supporting on the day itself. Even a small amount of time makes a big difference, and we are all truly thankful for any support you can volunteer.

If you’re able to spare just a short slot, please let The Friends know, who would love to have you involved!

Thank you in advance for your support.

Have a lovely weekend

Alison Harvey
