Year 6

Welcome to Year 6

In Year 6, we have three classes: 6 Warhol, 6 Banksy and 6 Vasarely.  In 6 Warhol, the class teacher is Miss Holmes. In 6 Banksy, the class teachers are Miss Brown & Mrs Redden. In 6 Vasarely, the class teachers are Mrs Hallett and Mrs Spatcher. In addition, we are fortunate to have Mr Kennedy (HLTA) & Miss Morley (HLTA), Miss Peal, Mrs Masood, Miss Ottaway & Miss Tate who will support across Year 6.

In Year 6, we strive to meet the end of Key Stage 2 expectations and prepare the children for their SATs in a supportive environment.  We try to instil independence in the children, as well as develop their resilience and the skills they will need to prepare them for Secondary School and beyond.

You will find our curriculum information further down the page!

Science Extravaganza

On Tuesday afternoon, the Year 6 girls were lucky enough to visit NSG for a science extravaganza celebrating women in science.  We observed many fascinating experiments and learnt about the science behind them aswell as hearing about many women scientists and their work.  We hope it inspired our girls in science.

Helping at Home

In Year 6, the children are set weekly spellings on a Monday which are tested on a Friday; on Thursday we also set an additional piece of home learning which is due in the following Tuesday. The children have been issued with a Homework Diary to help them manage their time effectively in preparation for secondary school.  These need to be signed by a parent/carer each week and handed in every Wednesday to be signed by their class teacher. In addition to this, please continue to support your child with their reading by regularly reading to them, listening to them read and asking them questions about their reading. We encourage them to record this in the homework diary too.

Our Year 6 PE lesson is on a Wednesday afternoon so please ensure your child has their PE kit in school on this day.
