We are a warm and welcoming, inclusive school at the heart of a vibrant community. We strive to provide inspirational learning and teaching so that every child can achieve their best.
In partnership with our parents and the community, we aim to develop children who are passionate about learning and conduct themselves responsibly in the world.
Our website is a window into the exciting learning that is taking place in school. Have a look at our year group pages to find our current blogs to see more.
In the section, ‘What Makes Us Unique’ below you will also find quotes from our latest Ofsted (October 2024), that highlights some of the key features of our school.
We are proud of our school community and what we offer to our pupils.
If you are interested in a school place for your child, including a place in our ‘outstanding’ early years provision for September 2025 entry, please call the office to arrange a visit. We would be delighted to show you around our school, so you can see for yourselves what a happy and thriving learning community we are!
Mrs Alison Harvey
Headteacher
We are a three-form entry school with our own Nursery and Out of School provision in the heart of Northampton, closely situated to Abington Park. Our ethos is one of inclusion where every member of the community is valued and can be successful.
Children in our Early Years, ‘receive an outstanding start to their education’ and they ‘learn in a stunning environment’ where they are ‘expertly prepared for their next learning steps.’
Nurture is at the heart of our school where support is in place and deployed sensitively, to enable everyone to feel safe, enabling them to learn. ‘Pupils with SEND thrive in school.’
The school strives for a well-planned, vibrant and research-based curriculum which builds rich schemas of knowledge and a passion for learning. We aim to teach greater breadth and depth to enrich learning and lay strong foundations for the development of future concepts. You will find that our curriculum and ethos is reflected in our bright engaging environment and fully demonstrates the ‘fairness, diversity and equality’ that is so important to our pupils.
‘Behaviour is exemplary. Pupils show pride in their school community. Pupils’ enthusiasm for school shines through.’ Our children look forward to twinning with a different year group class and it’s lovely to see older and younger children engaged together throughout the school, whether this be through sharing books and developing reading skills together, supporting each other on the playground or cheering encouragement for each other on sports days.
Developing a growth mindset is key to the children’s resilience and ability to understand where they are in their learning and what their next steps are.
The word ‘challenge’ is integral to our approach and attitude. This sits well alongside our positivity and ability to empathise with others.
We scaffold learning in mixed ability, fluid groups with a mastery approach. This ensures no child’s learning is capped and opportunities for development remain open to all.
Pupils experience ‘a world of opportunities’ at Bridgewater. We benefit from having extensive grounds and a dedicated Forest School area along with an established pond area with dipping platforms. The children in our School Council have raised funds most recently to enrich the outdoor environment by providing an extra outdoor classroom.
Our strong partnership with parents and the local community is key to the children’s wellbeing and success in school. We strive to work closely with parents at all times and have an active Friends Association.
We strive for each child to access a well-rounded, broad and enriching experience, preparing them for their future. Ofsted recognised that, ‘Pupils’ personal development is exceptional. It is at the heart of the school. They learn to be valuable members of society. Consequently, pupils develop a strength of character. The school’s values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience can be seen everywhere.’
