Dear Parents
Christmas Fair
Gemma and The Friends have worked wonders again this term providing fun activities for the children and families of Bridgewater and raising £4654.36, which is phenomenal!!
They are a small group of volunteers who bring that extra sparkle to Bridgewater and we are very grateful.
We are looking for more enthusiastic volunteers to join the group now as Gemma has already given three years in the role of the Chair of the Friends to Bridgewater and she will need to step back soon. This provides an amazing and unique opportunity for someone new to step into the role. If you are interested in joining the Friends, please contact Gemma or the office and you will be supported as a new member of the group.
Should no one else step forward the unique opportunities that our children and families have participated in may not be able to continue. Over the years the funds raised have provided endless outdoor equipment as well as books and the Cubbie. They have made a huge difference, and we thank them all for volunteering their time, energy and enthusiasm.
This term:
Stikins commission: £71.28
Uniform Sales: £110.50
Wreath Making: £705.37
Panto: £858.00
Christmas Fair: £2576.00
Christmas Cards: £333.21
£4654.36
I think you will agree, this is an incredible amount of money to raise for the school. We are all very proud of what the team have achieved, and we hope they enjoy some time off and a well-deserved rest before 2026.
Bebras Challenge
Mr Lagdon, Computing Lead, writes as follows:
This week, we received the results of the 2025 Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge which all children in Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 participated in. Computational thinking is a logical way of solving problems by breaking them into smaller parts, recognising patterns, focusing on the important details and creating clear, step-by-step solutions. It helps people design efficient processes and understand complex systems, making it useful not only in computing but in many everyday situations. A special mention goes to Michael, Alex, Sofia, Jack, Lyla-Rose, Matilda, Joshua, Jonah and Elliott who all achieved special gold awards, meaning they scored in the top 10% for their categories nationally. Well done!
A Busy Week!
It’s been all things Christmas with the Year 3 Church Performances on Tuesday and Wednesday which as always were wonderful in the beautiful surroundings of the Church of St Peter’s and St Paul’s. The children sang and acted with confidence and a big thank you to Mrs Douglas and the team and Canon Jun and Reverend Helen who welcomed us warmly.
We loved the Year 2 Performance of ‘Barrmy Bethlehem’ enjoying the lovely singing, acting and jokes. Thank you, Mr Ebsworth and the team, for all their hard work in producing such an excellent production.
Year 1 created a magical atmosphere with their Christingle where they sang beautifully, read with clarity and lit their candles which glowed in the dimmed hall. We thank Mrs Copeman and the Year 1 team and Reverend Helen for sharing a prayer at the end. A very special performance reminding us of the true meaning of Christmas
Early Years delighted us with their play ’Away in a Manger’. The costumes were fabulous, and they sang out loud remembering all the actions. Well done Maurice the Donkey, Mrs Wise and all the team.
Cooking Week
It’s been a great week for cooking with Year 5 cooking a delicious spaghetti Bolognese, Year 6 prepared a three course meal! And Early Years cooked some lovely biscuits, but they might be a surprise?
The Year 6 Soiree is on Monday evening next week.
Miss Hodges is catching up with the Parent Meetings for 4 Fraser next Monday and Wednesday and hopefully you have already booked your appointment.
Have a lovely weekend
Alison Harvey
