Newsletter - 3rd October 2025

Dear Parents

Age-appropriate Apps

We would like to make you aware of a recent online trend that has been brought to our attention by the children in Year 5. They have shared that a game on Roblox with a link to follow, called "Sarah's House Tycoon", is based in a house of horror, where a female is stalked by an obsessive man. Additionally, the children were worried by a "dark web" app being featured on YouTube, which may also expose children to inappropriate and potentially frightening material.

We are aware that some children have access to apps aimed at older children where they have encountered upsetting and potentially unsafe content. Please work with us to ensure that they use age-appropriate apps.

Keep Smartphones Out of the Bedrooms

As Mrs Redden, Online Safety Leader, has said and the Knowsley newsletters emphasise, the children could be only one or two clicks away from danger on the internet. Have a look at the following link on  Instagram Shocking, I think you’ll agree, but all too real in today’s world if unchecked.

As a smartphone-free school, we are committed to keeping our pupils safe and supporting families in managing online risks.  We strongly encourage you to check parental controls and limit time on all devices and ensure your child is only accessing age-appropriate apps and platforms and to keep smartphones/devices out of bedrooms. Staying engaged with your child’s online activity is one of the most effective ways to keep them safe and confident in navigating the digital world.

Thank you for your continued support in promoting a safe and positive environment for all our children.

Eye Checks

This is a gentle reminder that with half term coming up in a couple of weeks the children can access free eye checks to make sure they have healthy eyesight. I’ve seen lots of children wearing very smart, stylish glasses to school recently.

Year 4, 5 & 6 Rugby Session

Well done to the Year 4, 5 & 6 Rugby girls who had a fun session at the at Northampton Casuals this week and thank you to Mrs Crocker and Mrs Woodard for accompanying them and cheering them on.

Black History Month

The children will be celebrating Black History Month during October to recognise the achievements and contributions of black individuals and communities, with a focus on British examples. Please share with us any stories or examples that could help to enrich our understanding.
