Looking after the birds!

Over the last few weeks we have been thinking about the birds around our school. We discussed how in the winter months, especially on icy days it can be tricky for the birds to find their own food as the ground can be frozen. So in order to help look after our birds we have been busy threading cheerios to make bird feeders to hang in the bushes and trees all around the school.

This activity was not only great for the birds but also brilliant for developing our focus and fine motor skills!

Last week we visited our forest school area, swale area and playground to hang them up ready for the birds to discover!

We cannot wait for the birds to discover them so that we can become bird watchers and spot some of the lovely birds that we have been learning about in class!

During our time in our undercover area we have been constructing bird watcher dens in preparation and keeping a close eye on what we can spot using our special binoculars!
