This week we have been exploring 3D shapes in our maths sessions. We have been introduced to the 3D shape names cube, cuboid, pyramid, prism, sphere, hemisphere and cone and have explored their properties.
In the creative area we have been learning about the 3D shape faces by printing. We were excited to see that they made familiar 2D shapes!
Meanwhile in the construction area we have been busy builders, building towers for Rapunzel, learning about the 3D shapes that can stack best due to their curved and flat faces. Some of our towers got very tall and we found that the hemisphere and pyramids made perfect turrets at the top of the towers due to their rounded faces and pointed corners.
Some of us had great fun exploring which 3D shape was the best to roll to knock down our towers as well!
