Physical Development Stay, Play and Learn

A huge thank you to all of the families that joined us for our Physical Development Stay, Play and Learn session, we were thrilled that so many of you were able to attend.

The development of the children's fine and gross motor skills is one of the prime areas of learning that is vital to enable the children to write, perform and create. During the morning the children were engaged in a wide range of activities which focused on developing these skills.

In the classrooms there was drawing, pencil hold development, letter formation, threading, tweezer work, writing at tables to develop posture and mark making on the floor to develop core strength.

In our atelier the children developed their fine motor skills working with clay, hole punching, threading and sewing in our haberdashery area, hammering at our wood work station, using pegs, pompoms and cotton buds to print and scooping and pouring in the sand.

Whilst outside there was more development for the children's gross motor skills as they used large scale movements as they danced, drew with chalks on the floor and built with tyres, planks and crates!

Each child had received a handwriting booklet with top tips in and access to some wonderful playdough and cooking recipes on Seesaw! We hope that some of these fun activities have given parents some ideas for how they can continue their children's physical development skills at home.
