Continuous Provision Fun

The Reception children are settling into life at Bridgewater Primary well. The children have been busy bees accessing the continuous provision areas. They have been developing their creative skills by working on their scissor control when cutting to make fringes and have been bursting with imaginative ideas as they became designers in the junk modelling area. We had rockets, new hats and aeroplanes to name just a few of the fabulous creations.

In our atelier the children have been developing their fine motor skills, hammering golf tees into pumpkins and have started work on their self-portraits, learning to mix colours to create their own skin tone. We look forward to adding the facial features next week!

Back in the classroom our mathematicians have been continuing their comparing, sorting and matching learning. This week the focus was on sorting rules such as sorting by colour, shape and size. The children were all able to sort natural objects into groups and enjoyed challenging their friends to solve their chosen sorting rule.

We have continued our daily phonics learning and it has been wonderful to see the children applying this knowledge independently as they have been sorting objects by their initial sounds.

Another fabulous week of fun and learning in Reception. I wonder what the new week will bring...watch this space!
