Autumnal Fun!

autumn walk photo

We have had a very busy couple of weeks at Nursery. We have continued to explore Autumn and went on an Autumn walk around the school grounds. Collecting all sorts of finds, such as leaves of all colours. The children also bought some conkers in and we have been using them to create beautiful pieces of artwork, we chose different colours of paint and rolled the conkers along pieces of paper to make patterns.

During the half term it is Diwali! We were very lucky to have Mrs Chudasama come in to tell us all about it, read the story of Diwali, show us how she puts on her beautiful Sari and spoke about the different things that happen during the festival. We have been making Diya lamps with clay, rolling the clay into a ball and using our thumbs to make hole in the middle. After this we used our fingers to pinch the clay to make the shape of the lamp. This helps with our fine motor skills and strengthening our hands. We've also been using colouring pencils to colour in Rangoli patterns.

rhyme town photo

Our rhyme town this week has been 'Miss Polly had a Dolly.' We have been focusing on the cross as our pre-writing shape. Going down, and across. To tie this into the provision we have created a doctors surgery in our role play area which the children have throroughly enjoyed. They have been playing doctors with each other but also they have been using the dolls to play, just like the rhyme.

Lastly, we have met our twinned class - Year 3 Thomas! The children came in to meet everyone and we read stories all together, it was a lovely end to the term and all of the nursery children enjoyed themselves.

Have a wonderful half term everybody!
