Welcome back to Nursery! We hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing half term. We were so excited to see everyone again and couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate being back together than with a delicious activity!
As it was Shrove Tuesday during the break, we decided to have our very own pancake day at nursery this week — and what fun we had!

The children became fantastic little chefs as we made our pancake batter from scratch. We used eggs, plain flour, milk and a tiny sprinkle of salt. Everyone took turns pouring, measuring and mixing the ingredients carefully into the bowl. There was lots of concentration (and lots of stirring!) as we worked hard to make sure there were no lumps in our mixture.

Once our batter was ready, the grown-ups stepped in to cook the pancakes in a frying pan, flipping them carefully with a spatula. There were lots of excited faces watching and waiting as the delicious smell filled the room!

For toppings, we chose the traditional favourite of fresh lemon and a sprinkle of sugar — yum! During snack time, the children enjoyed chatting about all the different toppings they love at home. Squirty cream, strawberries, syrup and honey were the most popular choices. We definitely have some future pancake experts in nursery!
What a fantastic (and tasty!) way to start our new term together. 🥞✨
