Measuring by height and length.
This week in maths we looked at measuring and ordering our friends by height.
We looked at different ways of measuring length using cubes, rulers and tape measures.
We also looked at measuring vocabulary such as short, shorter, shortest, long, longer, longest, tall, taller, tallest, taller than, longer than and shorter than.
We measured our friends and marked their height on a chart on our rooms. It was easy to predict who was the tallest and the shortest but it was tricky to place the children in between.
Some of us wrote our findings on a chart.
A few of us even measured the grown ups!
We are putting out measuring skills into practice by checking our family members’ height and ordering them from tallest to shortest in our homework books.
It’s fun being a measuring detective!
