Dear Parents

The Bridgewater Friends Association Needs You … Please.

Sadly, the ‘Friends’ Association has become depleted this year.  It is currently run by six very busy working parents and the school appreciates how much time and commitment they give to maintain disco’s, the circus and fun events such as the summer fair. We don’t know how much longer The Friends can be sustained without more parent support.  So, we are having a big campaign to rally more support and we hope to have a lot of interested families step up and support the group at the AGM on Tuesday 30th April from 6pm – 8pm and during the next year.  We are starting off after Easter with a coffee morning for all of you at drop off in the hall on Monday 22nd April.  It would be lovely to get the core group of Friends some more support to share the workload at the big events. Thank you.

Year 1 Abington Park Museum Visit

Year 1 were warmly welcomed to the Abington Park Museum where they were able to tour the museum on a ‘Toy’ treasure hunt and have an interesting workshop learning about toys and trying them out.  They were really engaged and very skilled at playing marbles. Thank you to all the Museum staff.

Year 3 & 4 Gymnastics Competition

Year 3 & 4 performed skilfully in the Pacesetters gymnastics competition this morning and came first out of several schools. Well done gymnasts and a special mention to Zoe in Year 4 who got first place in the floor discipline.

Matilda

As you may have seen, Lola in Year 4 has started performing as Lavender in ‘Matilda’ the West End musical.  Mr Kennedy and Miss Peal went to see her in her first show yesterday and were buzzing when they came into school this morning – so impressed with Lola who is playing such an important character, and she owned the stage!

Early Years English Information Session

Thank you to the English team for the update for Reception parents yesterday evening. Mrs Spina explained where the children are in their phonics with clarity and expertise, Mrs Wise explained how Drawing Club works and how effective it has been in engaging writers through quality texts and Miss Valentine gave us a quick update on reading.

Thank you to the Reception families for a good turn out and for working closely with us to support the children.

Have a lovely weekend

Alison Harvey
