Welcome back everybody! We've had a lovely week at nursery. We have been focusing mainly on repeating patterns, seeing what patterns we can make, hear, and see in nature. We have been blessed with some sunshine this week which means spending time outside and doing a little bit of gardening. Finally, sparked from the childrens interest, we have been making junk models using recyclable materials to create lots of different things, from cars and robots to flowers.
We have been on two pattern walks this week, visiting all around the school grounds to see what patterns we can find in the environment and nature. The children really enjoyed this activity and were fascinated by all the different things we saw. We've also been looking at patterns in maths with colour and shape. In music this week we used the instruments to make patterns as well, seeing if we could shake the maracas and stamp on the floor to make a beat.
The beautiful sunshine we've had this week means we have been able to play outside a lot! We've been talking about signs of spring and what different things we could spot. The children also took an interest in gardening and helped us trim and prepare some of the flower beds to plant some new plants. This helps with the childrens understanding of the world. We've also been focusing on hopping, skipping, and jumping with two feet, which helps us work on our physical development.
