Christmas at Bridgewater

It all started with 'Carols on the Green', when Mr Lagdon surprised us with his musical talents.  He kept us all in tune by playing carols on the trombone and Mrs Range had organised all the music.  We wrapped up warm and it was lovely for all the community to come together singing under the twinkly lights in the trees as darkness fell. 

Then our 'Friends' organised an amazing Chritsmas Fair for us all to enjoy and raised over £2000 for the children!  We had a VIP visit from Santa and his elves, games, stalls, cakes a fantastic raffle and the Bridgewater Choir who sang beautifully. 

The Reception children started our Christmas performances with an excellent rendition of, 'A King is Born' singing up beautifully. This was followed by Y2 who performed, 'Prickly Hay' for us with amazing singing and dancing.  Y1 and their families were warmly welcomed  to the curch of St Peter and St Paul in Abington Park by Father Jun and Reverend Tracey.  Their singing sounded glorious in the church and there was a hushed atmosphere as the candles in their christingles were lit and the church lights were dimmed.  It felt so important to reflect and think about the Christmas story with its special message in amongst all the hustle ad bustle of the christmas season. 

The Y6 soiree moved us through a range of emotions finishing with an exhibiton of their incredible home projects based on WW1.  The work had been created as part of their home learning and the passion for their work showed through in their original presentations and ideas.  It helped us reflect on what the courageous people in the wars had sacrificed for us.  I was intrigued by the project linked to the Northampton shoe industry that you can see in a picture below which was particularly poignant.  

Y3 then performed in the church which was was a simple but impressive nativity; their vibrant singing was amplified by the acoustics of the beautful church of St Peter and St Paul's.  Another special performance where the community was brought together to enjoy the children and staff's hard work and high standards.  Last but certainly not least our Nursery children delighted us with their very first nativity, dressed in their lovely costumes and singing together with great enthusiasm.

Thank you to everyone for their team work and extraordinary efforts which have provided us all with special memories.
