Dear Parents

Y6 SATs

Congratulations Year 6 on your fantastic approach to the SATs this week.  Our unexpected local authority monitor was impressed at how relaxed you were and your mature attitude to the tests.  He was also pleased the adults carried out everything appropriately.  It was a bit of a test for us putting all the papers in the correct assortment of plastic bags – but we got there!  We would like to thank the Friends and our friend Pino who arrived with our ice-cream treats, which went down very well.

Frontier Centre

After a rainy day on Wednesday the weather cheered up for the Year 4 children on their residential at the Frontier Centre. They have had a brilliant time, abseiling, kayaking, climbing, becoming master archers, eating marshmallows toasted on the evening bonfire, taking part in team activities and getting covered in mud and the disco of course!  Thank you to the Year 4 team for making it a great experience and well done children for your fantastic growth mindsets when it came to taking new challenges.

International Schools Award

Mrs Hsu, our Spanish teacher, is working hard gathering evidence for the international Schools Award and has the following message:

Along with deepening our understanding of life in other schools overseas resulting from our ERASMUS visits, we will be exploring number in different languages and international playground games.  If you would like to share anything in a different language related to either number or playground games please let us know by next Friday 20th May as we would love to share your experience with the children and staff!

Year 4 Multisports

Last Friday a group of year 4 pupils took part in a Multisports Festival with a number of other primary schools. They had great fun and of course represented Bridgewater very well.

Volunteer Helpers

I know some of our local residents read our Newsletter and I’d like to warmly welcome you if you have a little spare time to come into school and volunteer. Maybe you would like to hear some children reading, read a story to a group, do some gardening or possibly share your crafting skills with the children, whatever you would feel comfortable with.  You would need to fill in a DBS form with Hilary in the office first and then you could begin.  We would also, of course welcome support from parents and family members.

Northampton Carnival – ‘Summer of Jubilation’ 11th June 2022

On Saturday 11 June 2022 the Northampton Carnival will take place.  Bridgewater children have enjoyed participating in many previous carnivals and this year we are delighted to join this community event once again to celebrate the Jubilee by entering a Bridgewater float. If any children in KS2 are interested in taking part in the workshops and are able to participate in the carnival parade on June 11th please see the Parent mail due to come out on Monday 16th May for more details and the permission slip. We have places for 30 children, so please get your slips back asap.

Have a lovely weekend

Mrs Alison Harvey
