Welcome to Year 4

Welcome to Year 4 September 2022. Our year group comprises:

  • 4 Wiltshire - Mrs Redden & Miss Tsang 
  • 4 Fraser - Miss Burlington
  • 4 Milhazes - Ms Marr

We are fortunate to be supported by Mrs Watts, Miss Crocker, Mrs Woodard, Mrs Dempsey (LSA) & Mrs J Caine (HLTA).

Last week in Art, the children learnt about symbolism. They collected pieces of nature such as leaves and twigs and printed these using charcoal. Inspired by nature, they then created their own pieces of artwork in the symbolist style using charcoal.

The children in year 4 are currently learning about sound in science. This week, the children explored pitch and enjoyed making and testing their own set of pan pipes. They considered how to make sounds with a range of pitches for their pan pipes. They also discovered the factors which effect the note pitch on different instruments.

This week a group of our year 4 children successfully completed their level 1 bikeability. During the course, the children considered the best types of clothing and footwear for cycling and learnt how to check their bikes. They also completed a variety of tasks including practising emergency stops and riding their bikes in a controlled manner as directed by their instructors.

New year 4 books

This week, the children have been excited to discover a variety of new school reading books in year 4 and have been considering which ones to read first.

Helping at Home

As always at home we encourage regular reading and spellings and times tables practise. Home Learning is given out on a Thursday and due in on a Tuesday. Spellings are given out on a Monday and tested the following Monday.
