Currant Buns!

blog photo 111024

In rhyme town over the past couple of weeks we have been focusing on the rhyme '5 Currant Buns.' The children have really enjoyed using visual aids as well as themselves to help recite the song. This has helped with their counting skills and practising our pre-writing shape which is a circle. This linked well with baking current buns to enjoy at snack time. As a group we discussed what ingredients were needed and where they came from, we took turns to stir and add the ingredients into the bowls before going to bake them with an adult.

We have also been staring to look into Autumn and the changing of the seasons. The children enjoyed collecting Autumn finds such as conkers for conker rolling and leaves of all different colours. We have been getting creative by using them in the play dough and practising our scissor and hole punch skills on the leaves.
