Dear Parents
Easter Performance
Year 5 presented a stunning Easter performance over the last two days. The singing was glorious and moved us through every emotion. It was a mature performance where the children acted with clarity and conviction. The children were excited to see Reverend Tracy today who commended them at the end of the performance and wished us all a happy Easter. Well done to the Year 5 team and all the children.

Claire Coleman Oracy Lead at Bridgewater Primary School shared:
“It was an absolute pleasure to be part of the Poetry Together project. We are extremely proud of the hard work shown by the children of Bridgewater in creating and delivering their poems to the residents of St Christopher's Care Home. It was truly heartwarming to see the smiles on everyone faces, we will certainly take part again next year.”
Science Competition
Thank you to everyone who took part in the 'Do science with me' paper cup challenge. We had nearly 150 entries and Mrs Hallett was so impressed with how creative you were with your experiments and models; it made it very difficult to judge. The standard of work was high, and it was lovely to see the children using their scientific vocabulary so confidently to explain what was happening in their video clips and write ups. We had such varied entries - it's amazing what you can do with a paper cup.
Congratulations go to:
Luna (Hepworth) - Walking water. She talked confidently in her video about how the water transferred from one cup to another and how the colours mixed.
Leo (1 Kusama) - Rocket with launcher
Sammi-Ammar (2 Klimt) – Created a working tap which worked on water pressure
Ruben (3 Thomas) and Emma (Kandinsky) – Made a water filter and cleaned dirty water
Alex (4 Fraser) – Created a zoetrope
Olivia (5 Basquiat) – Used thermal energy to make a moving lantern
Lily (6 Vasarely) – Created a working fan
We will be presenting these children with prizes at the beginning of the summer term in our whole school assembly and sharing their work.
Pol – Ed
Thank you to Jamie Wells and the Northamptonshire Pol – Ed PCSO’s who came to school to talk to Year 6 about online safety. The children were very honest, and I was surprised at the range of over age games they shared that they were accessing, including some that are violent and misogynistic. It was also interesting that they are currently most concerned about being scammed. The children shared how a big percentage are on the devices late at night and it makes them feel tired. They explained that they frequently talk to strangers online and they were slightly shocked when they realised that police could take any phone and track calls, texts, social media interactions etc. and if they engage in any ‘malicious communications’ at their age, this could be actioned by the Police as it is against the law. We are among one of the first schools in Northamptonshire to be able to access this initiative, which includes a range of support on different areas. I hope children found it useful to reflect and hear some facts from Jamie, Dan and the team.
Please continue to carry out your weekly devices checks and ensure all children are as safe as possible at Easter. If you need any further information on any online safety issues, please do not forget the informative newsletter, which is sent monthly, as this has helpful guidance and advice on a range of current topics and highlights areas of concern.
Termly Learning Conference
Thank you to the Year 6 team, who met the families of Year 6 children this week.
We look forward to catching up with the remaining families after Easter at the Termly Learning Conferences when the children confidently share their learning and next steps with you.
Have a lovely Easter break and we look forward to seeing the children back in school on Wednesday 23rd April.
