In Year 4, we analysed and focused on shadows that we observed in the painting. We explored shadows by shining light on different objects. During Art sessions, we learnt about tones and shading. We also practised different sketching techniques to cast shadows. We enjoyed observational sketching and also explored casting shadows by changing angles of light source. Then we sketched our self-portraits, added detail by shading, using different tones and sketching techniques.
