Diwali Day

On Friday the 2nd of October, Year 3 participated in their annual Diwali Celebration Day.

The children enjoyed a variety of activities which included learning all about the story of Rama and Sita, creating Diya Lamps out of clay and making their very own Barfi sweets. Year 3 also explored symmetry through designing their own Rangoli patterns and listened to Diwali festival music.

Barfi is a dense milk-based sweet from the Indian subcontinent. To make this yummy treat, the children mixed together condensed milk, icing sugar and coconut. They then added red food colouring and left them to cool in the fridge.

Year 3 moulded their clay into a Diya Lamp shape and then used tools to add their unique patterns and markings.

The children enjoyed learning Bollywood steps and performing them in a routine.

It was a pleasure exploring Diwali with Year 3, we all had a fantastic day.
