On Tuesday of Science Week, we learnt how animals, such as whales, keep warm in the polar regions using blubber.

We made our own blubber gloves so that we could see just how effective blubber is at keeping you warm. 

We put one of our hands into some ice with a normal glove (just a plastic sandwich bag!) and the other into the ice inside our blubber glove (lard inside a sandwich bag). Our blubber glove hand felt warm and the other hand felt cold. 

We were amazed at just how well the blubber kept out the cold.
