The past couple of weeks we have been extremely busy in Nursery. We have been learning about bonfire night and why we celebrate it. In line with this, we have been getting creative and making our own fireworks. The children started off by cutting different sections of toilet roll and then spreading the different segments out. After this, the children had to use a ‘dab’ and ‘twist’ motion to create their fireworks. We also had an amazing time in Early Years where we learnt how to create a fire and what we needed to do to be safe when doing this. Mrs Wise went through each step and we used our senses to explain and describe what was happening. At the end, Mrs Wise used her toasting fork to toast an enormous marshmallow! When we got back into Nursery we enjoyed a delicious cup of warm hot chocolate, it was yummy!

We have also had a visit from our twinning class 3 Thomas, where the children had the opportunity to share some stories. This was lovely for both classes and we are going to be meeting up again soon!

Lastly, we have been learning about Remembrance Day, what it means and why we wear poppies. We have been using different skills to create a variety of poppies. The first poppy we made we had to use our hand prints to represent the petals and then used black pom poms to represent the middle of the flower. Secondly, we painted different strips of paper and used a twisting motion to create a textured poppy. Lastly, we drew around a poppy shape, cut it out and used water colours. The children observed to see how the water colours bled.
