Exploring the Bridgewater Pond

Our children have been exploring the pond recently which has been a real adventure because it was quite overgrown.  Imagine how excited they were when we upturned a log to find newts underneath; they observed carefully and we returned the log gently so that it was back in it's natural habitat. We found slugs, snails, interesting spiders and frogs.  The teasels and bull rushes looked wonderful around the pond. When the children walked around the outside they spotted a pigeon nesting in a tree.

A big thank you to our local friends and residents who came in to school today and worked very hard around the pond to start clearing the pathways.  Jason and Christine kept their energy levels high with bacon rolls and hot drinks.  They had a great morning led by Mrs Collinson and are planning to come back regularly. We are so appreciative and feel very lucky to have such a fantastic team of volunteers.
