Nursery Update
Dear Parents
The Department for Education has announced the following:
From the week commencing 1 June 2020 at the earliest, we will be asking primary schools to welcome back children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6, alongside priority groups.
We know that attending early education lays the foundation for lifelong learning and supports children’s social and emotional development.
Bridgewater Initial Thoughts:
We are looking forward to the gradual return of our children and will do our utmost to ensure that they are as happy and as safe as possible in school when the time comes.
We won’t know what our plans will look like in detail until we have further guidance; however, we could possibly take the following approach.
- We are looking forward to potentially welcoming our nursery children back around the time of 1 June. Mr Humphreys and the team have deep cleaned the unit, which looks amazing and Mrs Hollingsworth has been sprucing up the outside area and making everything lovely for the children’s return. We will take 10 children a day initially, with 5 in each base to maintain social distancing.
- We will make sure they wash their little hands and make them feel safe, relaxed and happy, whilst providing exciting activities as always.
- We will rota the children each week ensuring everyone can return; however, we will prioritise the vulnerable children and those of key workers.
We will also make sure the pre-school children build their confidence ready for the transition to school in September and will gradually ease all the children back in and get them back in to a nursery routine.
These ideas may evolve and change but we will adapt as we go in response to government and LA updates, with the best interests of all the children at the heart of any decisions.
Best wishes
Alison Harvey
