Dear Parents

New Intake

After meeting our delightful new intake children on the Fun Day, the Reception class teachers are having a busy week visiting them in their homes. They are enjoying getting to know the children and their families and finding out what they most love to do.

Transition

The transition has gone smoothly overall and the children have got to know their new teachers and classes.  It’s amazing how adaptable they are and it’s lovely to see their confidence grow in a new situation.

Thank you, Mrs White

Mrs White, Assistant Headteacher, joined Bridgewater in 2007 and started in the old, Middle School building when we were open up to Year 3 in a growing two form entry school.  I remember sitting with her in the Middle School creating an exciting curriculum from scratch, which she made sure was fun and would engage the children.  Over the last two years Mrs White and the team have been rebuilding and refreshing the curriculum again based on the latest research improving the retention of knowledge and it is still, most importantly, fun and engaging.  The children would soon let us know if it wasn’t! We have watched Mrs White’s family grow and go off to their own schools and now she has made a giant step into a new school as the Headteacher of the Bliss Charity School.  We are excited for her and wish her all the very best for the future in her new role.

Sports Opportunity Week

Next week is the Sports Opportunity Week where the children get to try out lots of new sports including some unusual ones. I’m looking forward to seeing them in action playing quidditch, broomsticks at the ready!  Remember they must wear the correct Bridgewater smart PE kit throughout next week so that they are ready for anything.

Bridgewater Residents Committee Meeting

We were delighted to welcome and host the Bridgewater Residents Association Meeting in the school this week. Mrs Wise gave a presentation on the benefits of outdoor learning and Forest School, which  our visitors thoroughly enjoyed. We thank them for their continued support of the school and the donations they have made. We are also looking forward to seeing some on a more regular basis as volunteers within the school.

Thank You to our Friends and our Community

Last Saturday saw the community united for our very special Summer Fair. There was a wonderful atmosphere with the perfect variety of stalls, activities and games.  The weather was kind to us, not too hot or cold and when it did send a few raindrops, people nipped inside to enjoy the activities and stalls there and came out again into the sunshine.  The dancers were a joy to watch with several of our talented existing and past pupils.  We all enjoyed our T Rex who seemed to pop up everywhere to entertain the children … thank you Alby.  A massive thank you to the Friends, who literally spent all year planning and I’m sure they have raised a spectacular amount for our children. Thank you also to the staff and to you for supporting this special Summer Fair - I feel so lucky to be a part of this warm community.

Have a great weekend – it looks like a hot one!

Mrs Alison Harvey
