Classification Keys

This week in Science we have learned about classification keys and have used them to sort different things. We started by looking at images of buttercups. At first glance all of the pictures seemed the same but after a closer look, we soon realised subtle differences between the images. We then used a classification key to help us identify the different variety of buttercup. We then had a go at creating our own classification keys as a way identifying different varieties of sweets.

Helping at Home

In Year 6, the children are set weekly spellings on a Monday which are tested on a Friday; on Thursday we also set an additional piece of home learning which is due in the following Tuesday. The children have been issued with a Homework Diary to help them manage their time effectively in preparation for secondary school.  These need to be signed by a parent/carer each week and handed in every Wednesday to be signed by their class teacher. In addition to this, please continue to support your child with their reading by regularly reading to them, listening to them read and asking them questions about their reading. We encourage them to record this in the homework diary too.

Our Year 6 PE lesson is on a Wednesday afternoon so please ensure your child has their PE kit in school on this day.
