World Wide Wonders

Well the children have only been back a few days but what an exciting time they have had!  On Thursday the children discovered some golden eggs in their classrooms. We had no idea what kind of animal could have laid them so the children became researchers to find out which type of animal it could be.

The children also learned about the basic needs of animals and learned a song to help them.

The next day the children discovered the eggs had hatched and we explored the school looking for clues as what had hatched from the eggs!!  Year 2, can anyone reply to explain what we found?

  • Count in 2s, 5s and 10s forwards and backwards
  • Learn your number bonds for all numbers to 20 (e.g number bonds to 7 are 1+6, 2+5, 3+4, etc.)
  • Practise telling the time to the hour, quarter past, half past, quarter to and as an extra challenge to 5 minute intervals (five past, ten past etc.)
  • Practise letter formation using the correct pencil grip and develop fine motor skills (peg pressing, picking pasta shells/rice with tweezers)
