Year 6

In Year 6, we have three classes: 6 Warhol, 6 Banksy and 6 Vasarely.  In 6 Warhol, the class teacher is Miss Brown with the support of Mrs Dalby. In 6 Banksy, the class teacher is Mrs Wooder with the support of Mrs Rose. In 6 Vasarely, the class teachers are Miss Hall and Mrs Hallett, with the support of Mrs Hillery. In addition to this, we are fortunate to have Miss Scott and Mrs Watts (Teaching Assistants) and Mrs Archer (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) who work across all the three classes and run intervention groups where necessary.

In Year 6, we strive to meet the end of Key Stage 2 expectations and prepare the children for their SATs in a supportive environment.  We try to instil independence in the children, as well as develop their resilience and the skills they will need to prepare them for Secondary School and beyond.

You will find our curriculum information further down the page!

NMPAT Music Session

Last week, Year 6 were fortunate enough to have a session on music production from the team at NMPAT. They learned all about how to produce music using an iPad and were able to have their input on creating a track. The children voted on which chord combinations they liked the most and layered the intruments to create a the song. Finally, they recorded their voices onto a track to create the final piece.

Helping at Home

In Year 6, the children are set weekly spellings on a Monday which are tested on a Friday; on Thursday we also set an additional piece of home learning which is due in the following Tuesday. The children have been issued with a Homework Diary to help them manage their time effectively in preparation for secondary school.  These need to be signed by a parent/carer each week and handed in every Wednesday to be signed by their class teacher. In addition to this, please continue to support your child with their reading by regularly reading to them, listening to them read and asking them questions about their reading. We encourage them to record this in the homework diary too.

Our Year 6 PE lesson is on a Wednesday afternoon so please ensure your child has their PE kit in school on this day.
