Diwali Festival of Lights

It was a privilege for Bridgewater Y5s and families to take part in the Northampton town Diwali Festival Parade again this year.  Each year it gets better and better and there were several new giant animated characters from the Hindu story about Rama and Sita.

All the participating groups take their lanterns and we took our peacock lanterns that we made with Paul from Festival Road.  As night falls we light our lanterns and walk around the town as you can see in the pictures below.

It is wonderful for the community of Northampton to get together and celebrate Diwali in such an atmospheric setting walking between the amazing historic buildings in the town.   We finally reach the town square where Morcea Walker who organises the event and the town mayor Tony Ansell make special speeches.

Everyone was smiling and laughing as we celebrated together taking in the awe and wonder of the fantastic illuminated creations.
