Head's Blog

Welcome to this celebration of learning blog. I always think of the blogs as providing a window to look into the children’s fascinating world at school.  I am in the privileged position to be able to capture events across the school and community as they happen and share them with you.  It’s also a bit like a diary in that you can look back and see a colourful reflection of the year.

Bridgewater Remembers

We held a wonderful remembrance service this morning for over 1000 people.  It was amazing to have so many visitors from the community and thank you all for coming and for your kind comments. It was very moving as the children sang, danced, read poems and played the chime bars, drums and flutes.  Thank you to Wynn Williams, Anne Quinn and Vaughn Glynn from the Royal British Legion. Thank you to the office and kitchen staff for teas and coffees, and Mrs Holding for putting the whole assembly together and a special thank you to Matteo who learnt the Last Post and played It perfectly before our silence.

The hall looks stunning where each year group have made different poppies.  Nanny Margaret helped EY sew black buttons on their poppies, Y1 covered their soldier in tissue paper poppies and Y2 delicately painted water colour poppies.  Year 3 made mosaic poppies, Y4 made lovely clay poppies with Mrs Irwin, Y5 made origami poppies and Y6 sewed their poppies which are at the top of this page.

Mrs Biddle made a beautiful display by decorating the trees in the turning circle and Mrs Dempsey knitted many poppies with the knitting crew.

It was special to commemorate 100 years since armistice day and remember those who fought and lost their lives in WW1 and more recent wars.

Next week we are continuing to teach the children about empathy and compassion during anti-bullying week and we hope that they take these values forward to create a peaceful world.
