Dear Parents

New Intake Evening

It was lovely to meet the new intake parents ‘face to face’ yesterday evening.  Thank you to Jason who provided school meal food tasters as well as looking after the staff who stayed.  Thank you to Joe Dunkley, Chair of Governors who spoke and Leena Patel from the Friends;  both have a lot of interested people to support next year.  We are looking forward to our Reception Home Visits where we can meet the children in their own setting and find out about their interests.  Thanks also go to Dan from the Schoolwear Shop (now known as Stevensons). Just a reminder that branded uniform is not required, other options are available as long as the children look smart. Thank you to all the staff who attended and I know they enjoyed the relaxed evening getting to know our new families.

A special thank you to our School Ambassadors; Elsie F, Elsie T, Holly, Isabelle, Jacob, Saoirse and Sophie who showed our guests to the hall and represented the school in such a polite and mature way. Our new parents commented on how lovely it was to meet you all.

Summer Fair

It is the big Friends Event of the Year … The Summer Fair next Saturday 2nd July from 1pm until 4pm.  Please come along and enjoy the fun and games with the family.  The team have been working hard and as Leena, Friends Chair commented last night it can make lasting memories for the children, especially when they are just starting school for the first time.  We look forward to seeing you all next Saturday.

Summer Reading Challenge

The local library came to school to deliver a Summer Reading Challenge assembly this week, organised by Mrs Tasher.  Look out for the information, then pop along to the local library in the summer and let’s get reading! Mrs Tasher has a challenge for all the staff including myself. I am looking forward to reading her book suggestions over the summer.

Commonwealth Games Legacy Festival

Year 6 have had a lovely morning at Abington Park, participating in the Commonwealth Legacy Festival. They enjoyed playing basketball, cricket and athletic games, led by the Young Leaders of local secondary schools. They had the opportunity to meet other Year 6 children and discuss transition to secondary school. Well done for a super morning Year 6!

Lunchtime Supervisor Vacancies

We have vacancies for Lunchtime Supervisor roles starting in September. For more information including an application form and job description please see the school website.

Have a great weekend

Mrs Alison Harvey
