Dear Parents

Apologies for not getting a Newsletter out last week. I was at an Inspiring Conference on Friday with Mrs Troop about behaviour.  Mrs Cox, who used to work in our school office, was very disappointed that there was no Newsletter! So I do hope she enjoys this round up of news ?

Osmington Bay

Year 6 have had a fabulous time in Osmington Bay this week,  pushing through their comfort zones and taking on new challenges.  They have been a credit to the school with their positive attitude and in the ways that they have supported each other.  The rest of the cohort have also shown great team work and had a super week thanks to Mrs Dalby, Miss Morley and Mrs Masood who have organised some great activities for them.

Friends

We are pleased to let you know that Leena Patel has once again been elected to the position of the Chair of the Friends Association.  We thank her for her previous hard work with all the team and for the preparations that they already have in place for the future now that we have come out of lockdown.

Save the Date: The Summer Fair is on Saturday 2nd July, which we are all looking forward to once again – all volunteers of help are welcome, whether you can give a short amount of time or a lot.

Easter Egg MUFTI

Tomorrow we will all be in MUFTI and donating Easter eggs to the Hope Centre to bring a smile to young people’s faces. The donated eggs will be distributed across the county to children and families less fortunate by Jeanette Walsh, whom we supported at Christmas.

Cross Country

Well done to Milly in Year 5 who represented Northamptonshire in the National Cross-Country finals last weekend.  She showed her tough character on a very challenging course knee deep in mud!

Science Selfie Competition Winners

During science week, we launched the 'Science Selfie' competition where the children were asked to send in photos of themselves taking part in science at home. We would like to thank everyone who sent in a photo and for supporting the children with these projects. Please see the science blog on the school website for photos of some of the entries.

The competition winners are Amelia (2 Kahlo) who has been exploring chromatography, Elsie (2 Maurice) who has been separating liquids and finally to Eve (4 Milhazes) for her parachute investigation.  They each receive a science kit as their prize.

Y4 Northampton Museum

Year 4 had a great trip to the state-of-the-art Northampton Museum and were fascinated with the new building and exhibits.

School Council Obstacle Course

The School Council did a great job organising the obstacle course that all the children took part in last week to raise funds for an outdoor classroom.  I find it easy to forget to donate but if you go on to ParentMail you can still make a small donation to help.

Red Nose Day Grand Total

We will update you after Easter with our final Red Nose Day total.

Y5 Young Leaders

The Young Leaders had a day out training so that they can organise games across the school for other children. This will start after Easter; we are looking forward to this happening at lunch times.

Headlice

Can we remind you to check the children’s hair for any unwanted little visitors over the Easter break.  There are lots of products in the local chemist that can quickly get rid of them.

Y5 Multisport Tag Rugby

Year 5 went to the Saints this week and took part in a multi-skill tag rugby event and did themselves proud showing great team work and strengthening their skills. They won every match they competed in – wow!

Easter Assembly

This afternoon we had a lovely Easter service with all the children back in the hall again.  Year 5 delighted us with live performances of songs from their online Easter service, which were beautiful.

At the service we said goodbye and thank you to Mr Chris Grimshaw for being our Co-Chair of Governors and providing quality support for Bridgewater over the years.  He has overseen finance in the school as well as being a great support for Mrs Hallett and the science research team.  We also said goodbye to Miss Paine who is moving on to new opportunities and Mrs Collinson who leaves her HR position and wish them all well.

We are delighted to welcome Miss Valentine to Van Gogh Reception class, Mr Ebsworth to 4 Wiltshire, Mrs Marr to 5 Mazari and Mrs Watson to work in the HR department. They all have permanent positions after Easter and the teachers have introduced themselves to the children already.

Have a wonderful Easter break

Alison Harvey
