Dear Parents

Summer Fair Grand Total

The grand total raised at the Summer Fair was …. £4,569.96. What an incredible amount! This will be appreciated by all the children and we will let you know what it will go towards.  I know that the School Council will be thrilled as they have big plans to build a new outdoor classroom. Thank you to the amazing efforts of all our Bridgewater Friend volunteers and everyone who helped or attended on the day – we all had such a lovely time.

Sports Opportunities Week

I’m sure the children have told you all about the new sports that they have been trying this week. We are very grateful to Mrs Bray who has worked hard and organised some really unusual sports, as well as more traditional ones.  The children have played Quidditch, which is similar to handball with three hoops each end. Kai in Y5 really enjoyed it and said it was a very fast, fun game.  The caving looked excellent and you could see the children moving inside the cave on a TV screen! Then there was Kung Fu, hockey and the list goes on, so hopefully there has been something for everyone.

Celebration of Learning / Reports

On Tuesday 19th July between 3.30pm and 5pm there will be a Celebration of Learning evening where you are invited to come in and have a look at your children’s learning from the year. Books will be available to take home. If you are unable to attend these will be coming home with your child. Please could you either bring a bag to the evening or provide one for your child in order to take the books home.

We hope that you enjoy reading the end of year reports that should be with you this evening.

Bring a Book to Big School

Mrs Wise and the staff enjoyed meeting the New Intake children and sharing their favourite books with them on Thursday this week.  We are looking forward to them starting their learning journeys with us in September and wish them a lovely summer.

Y6 Leavers Events

Next week is the Leavers Assembly on Wednesday 20th at 2.15pm and the Leavers Disco is on Tuesday 19th July from 6.00pm -7.30pm.

The Lion King

This week the whole school and parents of the Year 6 children have had the opportunity to enjoy the production of the Lion King. This was stunning with superb dancing, singing, acting, costumes and scenery.  There were some outstanding individual performances as well as whole cast singing with beautiful strong voices and talented dancing. This was achieved thanks to the amazing choreography and production. The staff worked wonders ensuring that every single child could shine.  It was colourful and energetic from beginning to the end and the children took us through every emotion.  We are so proud of them and wish them well as they come to the end of their time at Bridgewater.  They truly demonstrated ‘The Circle of Life!’

Weather Warning

With the anticipated hot weather next week children will be able to come to school wearing smart school PE Kit or summer school uniform including shorts and dresses. Please also ensure that your child comes to school with sun cream applied, wearing a hat and has a water bottle with them as well.

Have a lovely weekend

Mrs Alison Harvey
