Dear Parents

It was lovely to see the children wrapped up warm and enjoying the snowy weather this week.  If this cold weather continues, please send them all in hats and gloves, thick preferably waterproof coats and waterproof shoes or boots that they can change in school as a few children were not well prepared.

The Story Jar Exhibition

The Story in a Pickle Jar exhibition was unique and very engaging.  There was so much talk generated from the project across the whole community.  Thank you for visiting the exhibition this week, feedback was very positive, and it has been a joy to hear families and friends talking about reading based on the work.  This week we are appointing our reading ambassadors who will help Miss Valentine and Mrs Wooder spread the love of reading even further.

A local resident wrote to us about parking in Ellis Way:

While there have always been occasions of parking in Ellis Way, in recent weeks it has become increasingly prevalent - with parents both waiting in these areas, as well as parking and leaving their vehicles. We have also started to witness vehicles parked across our driveway entrance (also on double-yellow lines).

Please can you remind parents that the parking restrictions in these areas are designed to protect their children, and that blocking access is not acceptable under any circumstances.  We have previously attempted to speak to parents who have done this but have elected not to do so any more due to having received verbal abuse on more than one occasion - something which we are aware has also occurred to other local residents when simply trying to highlight their rights of access and the inconvenience being caused.

Strike Days

School will be open next week on the National Strike Days.

Science Week

It’s British Science Week next week and Mrs Hallett has planned some exciting learning with the staff for the children based on pattern seeking.  We will let you know all about their learning via Twitter and the blogs.

Red Nose Day

Red Nose Day is next Friday 17th March, where the children are invited to dress in red. As in previous years you are invited to donate to the Comic Relief Charity via ParentMail.

Wrap up warm and have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Alison Harvey
