Dear Parents

It’s been an amazing half term; our new intake has settled in very well and we have been showing families around for next year already! Year 6 went away on their residential trip and grew in confidence before our very eyes as they took on new challenges.  The Romans invaded Year 3 at one point!  All the children have settled down, are showing a positive attitude to their learning and a caring attitude towards others.

Harvest Mice

This term was rounded off beautifully by the excellent Year 4 performance of Harvest Mice. They sang, danced and acted to a very high quality and the message ‘to look after our planet’ came through very clearly.  The school dining hall has been much tidier since the performance and since the Hope Centre came in to run their assembly discussing food waste.  The Hope Centre were delighted to receive all your generous harvest donations.  Thank you.

Police and Fire Brigade

Thank you to the police and the fire brigade who came to school this week to talk to the children in Reception about their roles and how they keep us all safe.  The children asked very good questions and contributed well to discussions.

Diwali

Year 3 looked fantastic at the Diwali parade in Northampton town centre with their illuminated diva lamps that they had made out of wicker.  We walked in the parade alongside other local schools and giant animaton puppets, including Rama and Sita and lighting up the night sky as darkness fell.  It was spectacular and the annual Hindu festival of lights pulled the whole community together.

Governor Drop In

This morning was the first governor drop in of the academic year, where governors were available for you to catch up with, say hello and ask any questions or share some ideas that you may have for the school.  It is a very important, voluntary role and they support the school in doing the best we can and achieving high standards for the children.

Website

We have worked hard checking the school website this week to ensure that it is user friendly for you and the community. We would welcome any feedback that you may have that could improve the way that it works.

Parent Meetings

In response to your feedback, we are trialling the first parents meeting in school face to face next term on Monday 14th November and Wednesday 16th from 3.30pm - 6.30pm and appointments will be available to book after half term. We can talk openly, without the children present, about progress and how we can work together to support them. In the Spring Term it will be more like our traditional termly learning conferences with the children involved and in the last term we will have a drop in where we can catch up and celebrate the years learning after the reports have gone out.

There is a training day on Monday 31st October and the children return to school on Tuesday 1st November.  We are looking forward to the Friends Halloween Disco on the Tuesday evening and Miss Morley will be our star DJ once again.

Have a wonderful half term.

Mrs Alison Harvey
