Dear Parents

Goodbye Y6

It is a bitter sweet end to the year.  There is so much to celebrate but tinged with sadness for Y6 who have had to isolate with three days to go!

We know how unexpected and disappointing this is but want to reassure Y6 that we will make sure that they will all have the chance to get back together again in September for a celebration.  We are really sad that they have had to suddenly leave Bridgewater in this way after all the brilliant times that we have shared together.

Y6 have demonstrated a fantastic attitude to their learning and friendships from start to finish and this was highlighted for me when we went to Osmington Bay for the residential.  They were so much fun, really kind and thoughtful and a pleasure to be with.  Yesterday the children and staff supported each other in their sadness and I hope they can look back soon and remember all the special moments.

So… the plan is that on the evening of Thursday 2 September at 6.00 pm we would like to invite the children and parents to return to Bridgewater for a special celebration and disco.  Parents can stay for the first half an hour and the Y6 children will sing a few of their favourite songs from the leaver’s assembly and will be awarded with their certificates.  After this, parents can leave and there will then be a disco / party for the leavers.  We will have some lovely snacks made by Jason and lots of staff will come and say hello and goodbye. Collection will be at 8.00 pm.  A ParentMail form will be available shortly for you to RSVP.  In the meantime, have a wonderful summer in preparation for your new schools.

Thank you to the Friends who have continued to raise funds during the pandemic and who bought the Y6 children their special leaver’s gifts.

Thank you to the school council

We had a fun MUFTI and sports tournament this morning organised by Mrs Watson and the School Council to raise funds for Cynthia Spencer.  Well done school council you raised an amazing … £428 and the Cynthia Spencer Hospice will appreciate all your efforts and make good use of the money raised.

Thank you to Malcolm Arnold Year 12’s

A huge thank you to Malcom Arnold Year 12’s who have been visiting us every week, rain or shine, to help with jobs around the school.  The swale area is looking lovely, the playhouse in Early Years has a fresh coat of paint, the sandpit has been refilled and various other maintenance jobs have been completed to help our school look it’s best.

New intake

We are looking forward to welcoming the new intake next Monday for a socially distanced ‘Get to Know You’ session where the families will receive booklets, information and sample some of the meals that we offer on the school menu.

Transition booklets for new classes

You will find transition booklets and presentations for the children’s new classes, where there are pictures of all the team members and information about the new classes on the blogs.

Breakfast Club

Jason and TnS are hoping that things will be back to a point where we can run the breakfast club again in September as it was a great way for the community to get together and enjoy a good breakfast to start the day.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Miss Tulley and her partner on the birth of their beautiful little daughter, Polly.

Covid-19

We will update the Covid-19 risk assessment at the end of August when we know more, in preparation for the start of term in September.

Final Thank you

Thank you to all the community for your patience and kindness this year, we appreciate your support and understanding.

Our children have come through this year strongly and have built resilience that will stand them in good stead in the future.

Kind regards

Alison Harvey
