Dear Parents

Christmas Fair

It’s here, TONIGHT!!! The Bridgewater Christmas Fair. Gemma the Chair, all the Friends alongside their little elves are busy preparing a wonderful Christmas Fair for the community this very evening. We look forward to seeing you all and if anyone could spare an hour or half an hour to volunteer on a stall, please let Gemma know, it would really help the Friends out. Thank you and see you later. A huge thank you, of course, to our parent volunteers, ‘The Friends of Bridgewater’. ?

Sporting Events

It sounds like there have been some fantastic sporting events at Benham this week! Year 3 to Year 6 had the chance to learn new skills and take part in activities ranging from archery and trampolining to long jump, high jump, javelin and hurdles on three different days. Lily Rose said, “When I first arrived, I knew there was a fabulous day ahead of me because I could see loads of schools wanting to have lots of goes at the activities and they were excited.”

Anglian Water Year 4

Year 4 invited Caroline from the Anglian Water Board into school this week. Miss Knight said she learnt a lot alongside the children and was surprised to learn we only use 1% of the world’s water! Caroline made it clear that this inventive generation of children would be responsible for looking after our water resources and creating sustainability in the future.

Mr Dunkley Soils Workshop Year 3

Year 3 were inspired by Mr Dunkley, a geologist and parent, who brought in bags of soils for the children to investigate and explore in the STEM room.  They learnt interesting facts including finding out about the soil beneath our own Ignite building and its effect on the building process.

Heart Dissection

Year 6 also had a fascinating afternoon dissecting hearts to learn about how the heart works and functions.

Lots of hands on learning this week which we hope may inspire the children in their future careers.

Inclusion Coffee Morning

All are welcome to attend the Inclusion Coffee Morning next Tuesday 3rd December after drop off in the STEM room. Next week’s guest speaker is Mrs Coleman who will be talking about oracy in school.

Have a lovely weekend

Mrs Alison Harvey
