Dear Parents

Year 6 Osmington Bay Residential

It really has been a wonderful week getting to know the Year 6 children better and watching them grow in confidence.  They tackled new challenges in the activities supported by the PGL staff who bring the best out in each child.  Some overcame worries about leaving home for a week and have learnt that they can tackle anything and one described it as the best experience of their life.

Thank you to Miss Holmes and Mrs Martin who worked tirelessly all year to organise the residential so smoothly with the coach companies, PGL and yourselves.  Alongside Miss Holmes on the trip was Miss Knight, Mr Ebsworth, Mrs Redden, Miss Linnette, Mr Lagdon and Miss Poole who worked day and night in the sunshine, in the rain, in the mud and on the sea having lots of laughs with the children.

We learnt a lot about each and every character and they were a credit to the school, well behaved and polite at all times. They all ate well with some trying new foods and enjoyed the four-day sleep over.  Some of them have a little bit more to learn about keeping a tidy room!

It was lovely to see that the children at Bridgewater had a lovely week with some fun activities with Mrs Masood.

I would like to encourage all the children currently in Year 5 to come on the residential next year as we all look after each other like a big family and have a brilliant time learning life skills.  Please speak to me if you would like to know a bit more and have a look at the pictures on X and Facebook.

Reception Children

It was lovely to welcome our new children into Reception for the first week altogether full time.  They have been to the library which they thoroughly enjoyed and are getting used to their lunchtime routine. The Reception classes have also experienced their first PE lesson as a whole class in the hall together and all the teachers were impressed with their partner work and listening. Thank you to all the Early Years team, who have worked so hard to ensure the children are happy, settled and enjoying the beginning of their learning journey at Bridgewater.

Flu Immunisation

The Nursing Team will be joining us next week on Monday 30th September and Tuesday 1st October to give the children with parental consent their Flu Immunisation. A large nursing team are coming on Monday and hope to complete the majority of immunisations on this day. If they complete all the immunisations on Monday, they will not return on Tuesday.

Let’s hope for better weather this weekend!

Mrs Troop
