Dear Parents

Sports Days

Thank you to Miss Holmes and the team, who organised two exciting sports days this week with some glorious dry sunny weather.  The events ran smoothly, and we hope you enjoyed watching the children compete.  We had a nice mix of traditional events alongside some fun events.  A big thank you also to the Young Leaders with their clip boards, who explained confidently and with clarity how to do each activity to the children.  Thank you for your lovely feedback and we will try to make the loudspeaker a bit clearer next year.

Transition Day

Next week we will be changing classes on our Tuesday transition day, and we will let the children know on Monday afternoon. They will come into school to their normal class, and we will oversee the move in the morning.  We want to reassure you that any shuffles in classes have been carefully considered and children will be with friends that they have requested.  Children might have butterflies in their tummy’s, which is perfectly normal, but please support them and look for the positives as they make the transition to the next year group. The teachers are all excited to meet their new classes and build strong links.

Staff Changes

Mrs Watson will be leaving us at the end of the year as she has a new post in a local village school.  She started her teaching career here at Bridgewater and we wish her well for the future and thank her for all her hard work and enthusiasm for history.

Mr Howard and Miss Tsang have successfully completed their teacher training years with us. Miss Tsang is relocating to London where she takes up an appointment in a primary school and Mr Howard has secured a post in a local school.  We wish them both well as they set off on their teaching journey.  Miss Heather Burlington has a permanent position in a local school, and we will be sad to see her go as well and wish her well.

Some of you may have noticed that Mrs Wooder and Mrs Range are expecting new arrivals in the Autumn term.

We are delighted to welcome Mrs Abena Ofori-Attah, Miss Daisy Hodges, Miss Lois Hardwick, and Miss Amy Underwood to Bridgewater for the new academic year and some of the children will be meeting them soon.

Summer Fair

What an amazing Summer Fair event with a huge turnout of visitors.  We had glorious weather and the whole Fair ran like clockwork due to our hard-working Friends led by Gemma.  There was such a huge array of exciting games and enticing foods to sample alongside spectacular dancing, magic and exhibition sports.  They have raised something in the area of £4000 for the children of Bridgewater and we can’t thank them enough.  We will update you with what it will be spent on in the new academic year.  If you are tempted to help Gemma and the team, email the Friends or pop along to a meeting next year – they are a genuinely welcoming and it’s a fun group to be part of.

MUGA

The builders have been working flat out on our new Multi Use Games Area on the Inspire playground.  The green fence is up already, and the new surface will hopefully be laid next week if its not too hot (the adhesive won’t set if it’s too hot).  It will provide a bright safe space for the children to play in.  The builders have been lovely and some of our children have enjoyed being able to speak to them in Polish.

Year 5 Cricket Competition

The Year 5 team have just returned triumphant from their Cricket competition where they played against eight Year 5 & 6 teams and came in second place! Well done to all.

Have a lovely weekend.
