Dear Parents

The children and staff have carried on with resilience this term and have made good progress despite a lot of illness throughout the community!  Thank you for your patience with staffing changes as people stepped in to ensure continuity for the children.  You may be new to the community and not realise that we have a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in each year group who often cover the classes.  Our HLTAs are very experienced and teach to a high standard as they train with our teachers. They know the children well and where they are in their learning and work closely alongside the teachers.  All in all we have had a lot of fun learning new things.

A Consultation About New Road Layouts for our Community

The following is a message from West Northants Council:

West Northamptonshire Council

We'd like to hear your views on plans to improve walking and cycling routes in the Abington Park area. The Active Travel scheme proposes new segregated cycleways and footways, and improvements to the Billing Rd/Rushmere Rd junction.

Have your say at ow.ly/c53H50MIL5w

Over the holiday you may find the time to visit Abington Park Museum where the consultation is taking place so that you can have your say.

Year 1 & 2 Football Tournament

Thank you, Charlie and Ms Arnold, for taking the Year 1 & 2 football team to Benham today.  They came second in the tournament of 8 schools which is very impressive and played with skilful teamwork – well done super stars.

Mental Health Week

All the children have reflected well during Mental Health Week with a focus on online safety on Tuesday.  They all have lots of tools in their toolbox to help them share worries and do activities to make them feel calm and happy.  It was great to see Year 4 all doing yoga in the hall this morning and it was also lovely to see some children doing a Willow Weaving Workshop creating magic wands and making connections to nature.   They focused on the theme ‘Let’s Connect’ and all the classes have twinned to strengthen their connections within the school. Mr Green’s class (Year 4) made strong connections with Mrs Wise’s class (Reception) and created paper chains together and everyone is looking forward to twinning again on World Book Day next term.

Have a great half term.

Alison Harvey
