Dear Parents

Covid -19 update

Several class teachers in KS1 and EY have been in contact with a positive covid-19 case and all the teachers went home straight away.  Your children may have different adults teaching them next week.  We are doing everything we can to make it as consistent as possible and all staff are Bridgewater Higher Level Teaching Assistants, well known to the children.   Please can we recommend that all adults in your families regularly take Lateral Flow Tests, which are freely available from chemists and inform us promptly of any positive cases and watch for symptoms in the children?

Basketball

As you may be aware, we made the decision that Pacesetters will provide basketball clubs from next year as well as their full range of exciting and interesting clubs for our children.   We will send a ParentMail next week once Pacesetters have confirmed that the booking system is live for next year.  If you ever have any concerns about your child/ren please contact myself or Nick Bellamy from Pacesetters as both the school and the club strive for inclusivity and enjoyment whilst improving skills, techniques, fitness, sportsmanship and generally encouraging them to lead healthy lifestyles.  We would like to thank Hotshots for running their basketball clubs at Bridgewater over the years and wish them well for the future.

MUFTI Day

There is a MUFTI day on Friday 16 July in aid of Cynthia Spencer alongside the Brilliant Booklet of Bridgewater Bakes compiled by the School Council and a sports tournament.

Mobile Phones

Parents please can we remind you not to use your mobile phone on the school site for safeguarding reasons.

Transitions

Thank you for working with us and the new classes.  The children have been positive and are enjoying the transition sessions across the school.  They are very resilient after a year of lockdown and are narrowing any gaps that may have appeared at a pace.  The Catch Up sessions are targeting areas, improving confidence and doing what they should do, catching the children up due to the skill and patience of the staff who are really enjoying observing the progress and the enthusiasm for learning of the children.  The children get out of it what they put into it.

Reports

The school reports will be going out to you on Tuesday next week.

Football’s coming home

There was a buzz in the building yesterday morning and lots of …. ‘Football’s coming home’ which has captured many of the children and staff’s excitement.  As a consequence, Miss Holmes and Mrs Holding have organised today’s fabulous zoom singalong in our classrooms celebrating the achievements so far.  Fingers crossed for the final.

Late start Monday option

You have the option to send the children in up until 10am on Monday morning so that they can enjoy the football if that is what you are doing as a family, however any children coming in after 10am will be marked as late.  The school and the OSC will be open as normal.

Have a great weekend.

Alison Harvey
