Dear Parents 

Carnival weekend – Saturday 9 June from 2.00 pm 

Paul from Festival Road has been in this week and working with the children both outside and in the STEM room to make some fantastic creations for our carnival float on Saturday.  We shall be leading the carnival which travels through Northampton arriving in town at about 3.00 pm.  The float is going to look fabulous and we have lots of eye-catching decorations to wave as we move along.  Mrs Douglas and the team can’t wait for this big community event. 

Knitting in Abington Park – Sunday 10 June from 12 noon to 4.00 pm

It would be great if you could pop along to Abington Park on Sunday near the band stand, where you will see some wonderful creations that our children have helped to knit.  You will find a ‘Woolly Aquarium’ displayed as part of the Big Summer Yarn Bomb! 

Parking solutions

It was good to see so many residents in school this week for the consultation evening about parking issues in the local area.  Every resident had a chance to voice their opinion to Andrew Leighton from the Highways Department and vote for their preferred option.  If you know of any residents who haven’t had the chance to vote please call in to school and collect a voting form. 

Residents asked that parents could be reminded not to walk over their front gardens, park on or across their driveways, park on pavements or park across the crossing point on Milverton Drive. 

Cricket Tournament 

Pacesetters have run cricket tournaments for Y3 and Y4 this week.  It’s great to see the children developing their skills and team work outside in the sunshine and having the opportunity to play against local schools. 

International visitors

We had visitors from Hong Kong, America, Holland and the University of Northampton in school this week.  They were impressed with the children who were engaged in their activities and shared their learning. They liked the story maps and approach to writing and were also treated to an impromptu performance of ‘It’s a hard knock life’ from Annie by Y6 who were in rehearsals.  Afterwards they discussed our approach to inclusion, nurture and The Bridge and Mrs Troop explained how everything was interconnected and woven together. 

Twycross Zoo

Y2 had a wonderful day at the zoo on Wednesday where they learnt that “flamingo’s stand on one leg to save energy because the water is very cold”.   They also said “We were so lucky to see the bush dogs that are semi aquatic and quite shy creatures”. 

Well done to 1 Kandinsky for a wonderful dinosaur assembly, you were all top performers.  

5 Dali have just returned from a day at the Nene Whitewater Centre kayaking and have had a brilliant time.  They also went on a river cruise and learnt survival bush craft techniques.
