Dear Parents

Your generous ‘Children in Need’ donations raised a huge £720.78 today which will support projects to improve children’s lives.  The children looked fabulous in their ‘spotacular’ outfits and Mrs Douglas led a whole school assembly that tied in with us thinking about empathy this anti bullying week.

Italian Day

Next Wednesday 22 November is Italian Day when an Italian lunch can be ordered – fantastico!

Y4 Lego

If you have any unwanted Lego at home please could Y4 have it for a project.  Thank you.

Governors

Dave Hanks, who is involved with the local Residents Association, has been appointed as a new Co-opted Governor.  He has already been in to school to see some science lessons as he has a background in science at a Further Education college.  Andy Cleaver has been appointed as a Parent Governor and has visited Mrs Troop to work alongside us with safeguarding as he has experience in this area working for the police.

Goodbye

We say goodbye and best wishes to Mrs Hensman who has worked here for several years as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant.  Many of the children know her as she has covered in their classes and she took a choir for young children.  You could often hear Abba’s ‘Waterloo’ as you walked past one of her music classes.

Uniform

Can we remind children not to wear the huge hair bows in school so that they can keep them special for the weekends please.  There also shouldn’t be any earrings worn in school and can we make sure that any nail polish is removed.  Thank you.

Mobile Phones

This is a reminder that the children’s mobile phones in Y5/6 need to be switched off at the gate and put straight in to the class box please.  We will also be asking adults not to use phones in school due to safeguarding.

Thank you to Mrs Hallet and Mrs Reece’s class for a lovely Greek class assembly this afternoon.  The children’s confidence grew before our eyes and we heard the children read their own myths beautifully, we had lovely singing and watched a fantastic dance based on the Trojan Horse story.

Have a great weekend.

Alison Harvey
