Dear Parents

New Outdoor Learning Covered Areas

The Year 1 team are very excited because we are having two new covered areas built outside the Year 1 classrooms for outdoor learning next week.  From Monday and until the work is complete, Year 1 will need to enter and exit their classroom via the old entrance door next to the caretaker’s office.  The children have been on a short walk today to show them the door that they will need to use.  Staff will also be there to meet and greet them.

Christmas

We are making sure the children are experiencing Christmas in the best way possible taking into consideration the current pandemic.

The easiest thing in the circumstances though is to say no to the children bringing each other Christmas cards and presents; however, the children will be able to make e-cards on Seesaw and in addition there will also be special activities on there for them.

Many of the children are in virtual Christmas performances this year.  These will be shared with you on the Seesaw platform and will not be on social media.  On behalf of other families, we kindly ask that you don’t share the videos.

Christmas Gifts

We realise that this year is very different for many and that financial circumstances may have changed.  In previous years, parents have often given teachers gifts at Christmas and this year we would prefer it if gifts were not given.  For those who may want to give a gift we are suggesting giving a small donation to the staff’s chosen charity, The Hope Centre, instead.  From Tuesday 1 December there will be payment item on ParentMail, which will allow you to make a donation.  The Hope Centre is a local cause, supporting the homeless and was championed by the late Mrs Biddle.  Any donation is purely voluntary.

No Dogs on Site

Can we remind people that dogs (large or small) are not permitted on site, unless they are assistance dogs. Thank you.

School Council

The School Council had a meeting this morning and talked about making community involvement stronger during the pandemic and the children are going to make laminated Christmas surprises for the local community to enjoy.

They have also asked if there is a handy person available who could volunteer to put the school’s wooden planters together so that they can start planting them up and making the school look cheerful.  Please contact the school office if you can help us

Have a lovely weekend.

Alison Harvey
