Dear Parents

Read to the end for a big surprise!

Year 6

Next week we say goodbye to our Year 6 who are coming to the end of their time at Bridgewater.  We are so proud of them and their excellent attitude to learning and amazing resilience during lockdown.  The children have been positive and upbeat and are looking forward to transferring to their new secondary schools in September.

They have many exciting activities to look forward to for the last two days next week as well as some surprises!  We have had 79 Year 6 children in school and are thinking about our children at home who are shielding and wish them well as they set off on their exciting adventures to secondary school.

Have a lovely summer everyone and don’t forget to send us messages or pop back and see us to say hello.

Key Worker Children

Our key worker children will be in next week in year group bubbles around the school.  Could they all bring in a pencil case, if possible, which contains all the resources needed i.e. pencil, ruler, coloured pencils, scissors, glue stick etc because they will be learning in spaces other than in classrooms.  We will have some spare equipment for emergencies.

Can everyone be dropped off and picked up at the hall door please.

No rucksack reminder

As I said last week Year 4 and Year 5 will not be able to have rucksacks in school so please do not go out and buy special bags for school over the summer, this applies to every child apart from Year 6.  The children will all need a school book bag because they will fit into their drawer units.

Only Year 6 will have rucksacks as a special privilege because they have lockers to store them in.  It’s part of our tidy campaign in the Inspire building which will look amazing for the children’s return in September with comfortable break out areas.

Curriculum Information

As we have not been able to invite you into school this year for the Parents Information evenings, where you would have received details about the coming year, these have been uploaded onto the relevant year group pages on the website.

September 2020

I have updated the Covid-19 risk assessment, which aligns with the latest government advice and will share this and more details with you all next week, once governors have checked them to make sure we are all as safe as possible and ready for September.

#Myparkisyourpark

Miss Knight and the school council have contacted the local Abington volunteers and we have attached their #myparkisyourpark message to keep you in the loop about the Abington Park initiative.

Miss Knight has been so impressed with the posters she has seen, raising awareness of picking up litter in Abington Park.  The kind volunteers who are giving up their time to clean the park will be collecting the posters at the end of next week.  If you are returning to school on Monday and you would like your poster to be displayed, there will be a box at the gate for you to put your poster in.

The volunteers are running a competition across the local schools for the best poster so if you have not done one yet and you would like enter then you are more than welcome to add yours to the box.  I have attached the volunteer’s poster with more information.

Exciting Announcement …
