Dear Parents

Year 5

It has been lovely having half of Year 5 in this week and watching them settle in and feel comfortable in school.  It’s interesting that the longer the children have been away from school the slightly more anxious some of them feel initially.  We are looking forward to welcoming the second half of Year 5 next week.

Well-being

I hope everyone who can, takes up the opportunity in the last week to send the children in to school to meet their new teacher and say goodbye to the current staff.  It could make a big difference to the children’s well-being and positive attitude to the full return in September.  Every child has now had the opportunity to return, even though it might be for a short while unless they are shielding.

Well done to those children who are shielding for keeping everyone safe and well.  We hope to see you soon.

Government guidance

The government have released guidance in relation to the September opening now and I’m glad that the school have planned for normality, but with a rigorous approach to social distancing and hygiene.  We feel prepared and will tweak the risk assessment and adjust routines and systems in accordance with the guidance.  We will make sure that you have all the details ready for the September start when all children are expected to return.

Parent information

Inspire Building – Upper Phase

We are having a revamp in the Inspire building, making inviting break out and nurture areas.  As space is limited, we are working on the lunch box, coat and bag dilemma!  We have cupboards for lunch boxes and are going to rearrange the coat pegs in groups of 8, so that they are not all on top of each other and falling on the floor.

It will be a Year 6 privilege to bring rucksacks or bags in to school as they can put them in their lockers.  Year 4 and Year 5 will only be able to bring book bags in to school as they are smaller and can fit in the trays in the drawer units.  This should improve the learning environment.

We thank the Friends who are providing £800 towards our revamp, which will make a huge difference.

Sports Days

All the children have competed in their sports day bubbles now – the weather held off and the children had a lot of fun.  Our children at home were doing their own Rainbow sports activities in their own little bubbles and we hope you had fun too.

Have a lovely weekend.

Alison Harvey
