Dear Parents

We have had the Inclusion Quality Mark Assessor in school today who enjoyed meeting your children and was impressed with how they shared their passion for learning.

Thank you Mrs Kay

As you may have heard, the children sang a special song written by Mrs Holding for Mary Kay, who was our Chair of Governors for 10 years.  Mary has always been a huge support to the school in her role; saw us through three Ofsted’s and has now stepped back to the role of Vice Chair of Governors.  Thank you very much Mrs Kay and it is lovely that we will still see you around school when you visit the classrooms.

Science week

Our much anticipated, Science Week starts next week entitled ‘Our Diverse Planet’. We have many exciting things planned for the children, including workshops and presentations from a range of visiting scientists. We hope to see many of you join us for our science themed Walk in Wednesday where you have the chance to carry out some science activities with your child.  An exciting competition will be launched during assembly on Monday and more details will follow via email next week. Please make sure you check our blogs during the week, where we will be showcasing our activities.

World Book Day

Thank you to Richard at Morrisons who brought in a selection of books for us on World Book Day to top off a lovely week.  Miss McDonnell noted that many children chose to bring books linked to their theme into school on the day, which were about ‘Space’ and ‘Inspirational Women’!  Reading isn’t just for World Book Day so keep reading everyone and get lost inside an interesting book this weekend.

Cobblers

We have been fortunate to have Clarence, the Cobblers mascot, in school today with Anna, Brett and Lucan who have inspired the children to read books about sport.  They have been great role models.  They ran a book talk session based on sports articles and Y4 thought about bias and opinion within the articles.

Fluenz Vaccine

If any child from EYs to Y6 missed the Fluenz visit in school and have not yet received their vaccination, the school nurses are running a clinic on Saturday 14 March.  Please contact the admin hub on 0300 111 1022 (option 4) to request an appointment.

Thank you 4 Renoir for a fantastic celebration of meteorology in your class assembly this afternoon.  We loved the suspense as you carried out your science experiment and made a cloud in a bottle – WOW!

Have a lovely weekend.

Alison Harvey
