Dear Parents

Thank you to Mrs Wise and Mrs Holding who organised our assembly for Mental Health Awareness Day.  The children were reminded of strategies to help them remain calm in moments of anxiety and they blew bubbles to release tensions, passing them around their class members.  The children learnt to sing ‘I’m forever blowing bubbles’ and ‘Mr Blue Sky’ which lifted everyone’s spirits.

We raised £545.00 for the Mayor of Northampton’s chosen charity, ‘The Lowdown’.  We thank Tessa Parkinson for telling us about the “Talk Out Loud” campaign for mental health awareness and letting us stamp her leggings with our school symbol.

School shoes

This is a reminder that the children should be wearing smart school shoes and not boots to school.  When it is wet and muddy, the children can wear wellington boots to school and change into their shoes for inside the building.  Can you help us to remind the children not to walk on the muddy grass and to wipe their feet when they walk inside buildings please, as we have a big problem with mud-covered corridors!

Science Week

Plans are well underway for our science week during the week beginning 9 March.

Thank you to those parents who have approached us to offer their time during the week to run workshops and talks for the children. If you have a career or hobby in the field of science, we would still love to hear from you. We would like to expose the children to a wide range of STEM careers and to show them how science fits into our everyday lives.

To fit in with science week next month’s Walk-in-Wednesday will be on 11 March (rather than the first Wednesday of the month) and it will have a science theme so we hope you will be able to join us.

Welcome back

We welcome back Mrs Spina into Y3 next week after having her little boy, Paulo.  She will be working alongside Miss Collins until Mrs Karavadra returns after Easter.

Safer Internet Day

Linked to Safer Internet Day on Tuesday 11 February the children will be learning about safe online behaviour and digital resilience.   Next week is also Mental Health week and we will be talking to the children about their 'screen time' and online gaming.

The UK Interactive Entertainment Association (UKie) have launched a campaign for parents called Get Smart about P.L.A.Y. to encourage more parents to use tools that manage features within games and on consoles.  This is clear and simple advice for parents.

Gymnastics

Mrs Cressey and Mrs Smith Manze took our Y3/4 gymnasts to a competition where they all completed their routines well and showed some impressive skill.  Donte, Olivia, Georgie and Daisy performed very well, putting an impressive amount of work into their routines.

Congratulations

Congratulations and best wishes to Mr and Mrs Coleman who recently had a baby boy called Bodhi.

Well done to 5 Escher for an informative assembly about all their learning.  It was interesting to see a skilful gymnastics performance and to learn facts about North America.

Have a lovely weekend and stay dry.
