Dear Parents

All the children and staff looked festive and fantastic in their Christmas jumpers today and have donated generously to the ‘Save the Children’ charity, an excellent cause supporting children not only here but also around the world.  The total is in … £360.59!  Well done.

A Christmassy week

It’s been another Christmassy week at Bridgewater, with the Early Years production of ‘Whoopsie Daisy Angel’ and Years 2’s production of ‘Hey Ewe’.  They were both beautiful productions where they retold the Christmas message with clarity, humour and wonderful singing.

The Nursery performance today was adorable.  The nursery staff made a film of the children acting the nativity alongside them singing with great enthusiasm.  We also got to see the outtakes and now I cannot stop smiling!  Well done to all the children, school staff and families who will be singing the songs for a long while to come.

On Wednesday, the choir sang to the congregation of St Giles Church, they loved our children’s singing and sang along with the children where they could.

Jason, Christine and the team produced the most delicious Christmas dinner yesterday and it was lovely to see the staff enjoying their dinner with the children.  I have to say, thank you to the children in Year 5 who have been helping in the hall and especially Jerome, who looked after me very well collecting my plate and bringing my Christmas pudding; I felt very spoilt.  We have such lovely caring children!

The Year 1 children raised an amazing £160 for The Children’s Society at their Christingle.

Spreading joy at Christmas

Thank you to the Year 5 families who generously donated a huge number of gifts for the patients in hospital at Christmas time.  The children wrote lovely letters, which have been gratefully received by the hospital, ready to give out on Christmas Day.  I have retweeted the messages from the hospital who were thrilled.

Year 3 are delivering their letters and gifts next week.

Circus Skills

On Monday, we have a lady coming into school and she will be leading an assembly on circus skills.  She will be starting a club soon, which should be fun!

More events coming up

We are looking forward to the Year 3 performances to their families in the church of St Peter and St Paul next Monday and Tuesday evening and Y6 are doing a Christmas soiree in the hall on Monday after school.

Carols on the Green

On Thursday evening at 4.30 pm, we will be singing our Carols on the Green to which all the community are invited.  It will be the first Carols on the Green without Mrs Biddle in her flowery wellies, setting up the lights and organising us all; however, she will be in our thoughts as we all sing along together.

Have a lovely weekend.

Alison Harvey
